Patient's Profile

Mr JR is an active student who has lost over 10kg in the last two years because he aspires to be healthier and fitter. He is concerned about his chubby and round face.

Background

Despite eating healthily and exercising 4 to 5 times a week, Mr JR is very bothered that he still cannot get rid of his double chin.

Consultation & Assessment

Mr JR expressed that his double chin and chubby face affected his self-confidence, and he shared that he wanted a slimmer and more sculpted face.

During the assessment, a comprehensive medical and medication history was conducted. The patient has no underlying medical conditions and is not taking any medication.

Upon examination, Mr JR was found to have substantial facial fat around the jawline and submental fat deposits, but with good skin elasticity. The patient's goal was to achieve a slimmer face and a more sculpted facial profile, for which Dr Puah suggested facial liposuction to remove the excess fat from the chin, neck and jawline area. Pre-surgery blood work was done to ensure the patient's fitness for the procedure.

Treatment Plan

The surgery was conducted at an accredited MOH Day Surgery centre, with the patient's consent and pre-surgery photos obtained. The patient received twilight sedation and was taken care of by an anaesthesiologist while Dr Puah carried out the procedure.

First, liposuction was performed on the targeted areas — jawline, chin, and upper neck. This was followed by sculpting to create a better facial and jawline definition. Lastly, subdermal skin stimulation was carried out using Dr Ivan Puah's MDC-Sculpt®️ Lipo approach to firm and tighten skin. The incisions were carefully closed with sutures, and compression dressings were applied over them. The patient was required to wear a facial compression garment for 6 to 8 weeks for optimal results.

Post-Op Recovery & Results

The stitches were removed ten days after Mr. JR's surgery. He's been diligently using the surgical facial compression garment to compress the treated area, which has greatly helped to reduce swelling and encourage skin retraction. The patient has recovered well, and the wounds have fully healed.

Further skin tightening treatment was carried out for Mr JR 2 months after his double chin facial liposuction. During the last review, the patient saw significant improvement; final results are expected in 4 to 6 months.
