Treating Acne Vulgaris & Atrophic Acne Scars with Microneedling in Singapore
Besides the usual acne program which is made up of topical medications, antibiotics, and laser, Microneedling is gaining popularity for its efficacy.
The skin's capability to regenerate dramatically slows down in our 20s. A chemical peel is an affordable and ideal treatment to kick-start your skin rejuvenation for healthier and younger-looking skin. It addresses acne, scars, pigmentation, coarse skin texture, fine lines, and wrinkles.
Chemical peel is commonly used to:
A chemical peel is not limited to the face. It is also effective on the chest (for acne or sun-damaged skin), back (for back acne), neck and hands ( for sun-damaged skin), elbows, knees and even feet.
Superficial chemical peel works on the upper and lower epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin), breaking up the bonds between skin cells to achieve skin regeneration. It can help to lighten skin tone and reduce acne.
A medium chemical peel, also known as TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel, works deeper on the middle to lower papillary dermis. It can improve acne scars, uneven pigmentation, skin texture and tone and smooth fine lines. It is stronger than a superficial chemical peel.
Deep chemical peel works on the reticular dermis and involves a longer recovery. It is recommended for those whose skin has been badly damaged by the sun, is blotchy, and with severe scarring.
Chemical peel is a non-invasive skin treatment in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to slough off the top skin layer. It stimulates new skin growth and improves skin texture and clarity.
Issues such as hyperpigmentation, acne, extensive acne scarring, enlarged pores sizes, fine lines and age spots can be addressed effectively.

Does chemical peel hurt?
Generally, the discomfort is bearable for most patients. Depending on the type of peel that is used on your skin, you may feel a mild tingling sensation on the skin.
Are there any side effects of chemical peel?
A small amount of flaking may occur after a superficial peel, but it will also depend on the type of peel used, the skin quality and the skincare regime.
There will be more shedding and peeling five to seven days after a medium peel. Skin will feel tight and tauter. It is essential to avoid sun exposure during healing as the skin will be more sensitive to sunlight.
What is the recovery time after a chemical peel?
Depending on the peel's strength, type and depth, peeling usually starts within 48 to 72 hours after treatment, and the peel will generally last for 5 to 7 days. The skin will appear slightly reddish for 2 to 3 days after treatment.
When can I see the result?
The results will vary depending on the type of peel rendered. For superficial peels, you will see an improvement in the skin texture in a few days, but a course of treatment is recommended for optimal results and skin changes. A medium-depth peel will take around ten days to see optimal changes.
How should I care for my skin after treatment?
Post-treatment skin care regime will be advised after the session. Some general guidelines to follow are:
