Patient's Profile

Mr T is an active individual in his early 30s who exercises 2 to 3 times a week, primarily focusing on gym workouts. As a non-smoker and a social drinker, Mr. T has always been conscious about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. His journey with body image concerns began in his teens when he first noticed signs of gynecomastia.

Background

In his early twenties, Mr T decided to address his gynecomastia, a condition characterised by the presence of excess glandular tissue in the male chest. This condition made him very self-conscious about his body image. After careful consideration, he opted for bilateral gynecomastia surgery performed by Dr Ivan Puah. Mr T was thrilled with the results, which gave him a flatter, more masculine chest.

Consultation and Assessment for Nipple Reduction

In 2023, Mr T returned to Amaris B. Clinic for another consultation with Dr Puah. He reiterated his satisfaction with the gynecomastia surgery but expressed a new concern: the appearance of his nipples. He felt they were too long and detracted from the aesthetic look he desired for his chest. Mr T wanted to improve the appearance of his nipples to match his enhanced chest profile.

The Treatment Plan

During the assessment, Dr. Puah discussed the option of bilateral nipple reduction. He advised Mr T to have realistic expectations and thoroughly explained the procedure's pros, cons, potential risks, and complications. Determined to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing and masculine chest, and after the blood work was confirmed that Mr T was fit for it, he consented to the procedure.

The surgery was planned to be performed under local anaesthesia. A nipple reduction aims to reduce the size and projection of the nipples. It involves making an incision into the protruding nipple down to its base. A small tissue section is then removed and pulled down to create a smaller, lower nipple. Stitches are used to secure the nipple to its new height and shape, and a light dressing is applied to protect the treated area. Dr Puah carried out the procedure uneventfully.

Post-Op Recovery & Results

Mr T experienced some nipple soreness for a few days post-surgery. Prescribed pain relief medication effectively managed his discomfort. The recovery process went smoothly, and he was happy with the reduction. His nipples were now flatter and more proportionate to his chest.
