Patient's Profile
This case study sheds light on the medical journey of Mr JE, a Caucasian in his late 60s who had previously undergone multiple liposuction procedures. Unsatisfied with the results and grappling with physical and emotional distress, he sought Dr Puah in Singapore for a revision surgery to rectify the uneven outcomes of his past surgeries.
Background
Mr JE's medical history included several prior liposuction procedures locally and in Australia. His initial surgeries in early 2000 targeted the abdomen and waist, which went smoothly without complications.
Subsequently, in 2017, he underwent high-definition Vaser liposuction on the chest and abdomen in Australia. Unfortunately, this surgery caused unevenness, leftover bulges, depressed patches and adhesions.
Consultation & Assessment
Mr JE flew to Singapore to consult Dr Puah on the possibility of corrective (revision) surgery to address the issues stemming from his previous Hi-Definition Vaser liposuction done in Australia. He expressed significant distress over the bulges, scarring, unevenness, and dents and conveyed his anxiety and frustration due to the noticeable irregularities on his chest and abdomen.
Dr Puah conducted thorough assessments and noted the following concerns:
- Multiple uneven asymmetrical fibrotic indentations on both his chest and on his abdomen
- Adhesions on both chest areas
- Unnatural fat pads and linear lines and bulges
- Over-suctioned areas, leading to an unnatural appearance.
Treatment Plan
Dr Puah proposed a comprehensive revision surgery plan to address Mr JE's concerns:
- Autologous fat grafting to correct depressed patches, indentations, unevenness
- Liposculpture to remove left-over fat bulges, even out uneven fat pads on the abdomen and address unnatural linear lines created.
- Liposuction of the waist with the MDC Lipo Sculpt technique to extract quality fat for grafting as well as to sculpt and contour the waist
However, Dr Puah also emphasises the importance of managing Mr JE's expectations due to fibrotic scars and adhesions from multiple previous surgeries. The patient understood the limitations and agreed to proceed with the corrective surgery to achieve improved results. Pre-op blood tests were done.
The corrective surgery was carried out in 2020 and went smoothly without complications.
Post-Op Recovery & Results
Mr JE returned to the clinic the following day after the surgery for a review. Clean wounds and no signs of haematoma were observed. He continued his recovery in the country where he resides, where stitches were subsequently removed.
A year post-op, Mr JE emailed the clinic his post-op images, expressing his thanks for the improved outcome.
