Skin Ageing – A Look at Managing Anti-Ageing and Skin Health
How’s your skin health? Are you seeing more dark patches and freckles or sagging around the eyes and cheeks?
PDO Lift [1], [2], [3] is a non-surgical skin lifting treatment using Polydioxanone threads (PDO). These synthetic dissolvable threads are not new in the medical industry. In fact, they have been used as suturing materials in cardiac and paediatric surgeries for over fifty years. It has been discovered to be able to rejuvenate ageing skin. PDO threads are now used aesthetically to help retard signs of skin ageing for many men and women.
PDO Lift is able to tighten saggy folds around the under-eye area, cheeks, nose-to-mouth lines, jawlines and jowls. It can also be carried out on the body to gently and effectively lift the skin.
Facial areas that will benefit from PDO lift include the cheeks, neck, jawlines, jowls, brows, and nasolabial folds.
PDO Lift is helpful for those aged 25 to 60 with the following conditions:
A softer, non-surgical skin-lifting option for the face and body
Subtle skin-lifting results (not a pulled and tight look)
Improves definition along the jawline through jowl lifting
Softens nasolabial and marionette folds
Stimulates collagen production months after the PDO thread placement
Improves facial contours, such as lifting the cheeks subtly
Reduces facial folds
Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
Treatment such as PDO Lift (using Polydioxanone threads) is marked as a medical device in Singapore under HSA regulation. It can only be prescribed and carried out by registered and trained medical doctors in Singapore.
Dr Ivan Puah, the Medical Director of Amaris B. Clinic, holds a Graduate Diploma in Family Dermatology from NUS and boasts over 17 years of clinical experience in addressing various dermatological concerns. His proficiency encompasses the treatment of skin laxity, wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, and more.
Dr Puah's knowledge and skill are further acknowledged through his appointment as a trainer-to-doctor by Merz Singapore and Allergan Singapore.
What is the material in the PDO thread?
PDO material has been in use for more than 30 years in various medical disciplines such as plastic surgery and gynaecology treatments because of its high tensile strength, good pliability and smooth tissue passage.
How long will the results last?
Results generally will last around 12 months. As the threads are biodegradable, they will gradually disintegrate to be absorbed by the body. Thanks to the collagen stimulation effect of PDO threads, new collagen is built over time, which helps to maintain the lifting effect.
How long does PDO Lift take?
PDO Lift will take around 30 minutes.
